Frosted Glass at a Fraction of the Price
Clearview Sun Control, Inc. (CSI) offers standard white frost window film for both residential and commercial settings. Frosted glass window film is a versatile and stylish solution for enhancing privacy, adding a touch of elegance, and improving the aesthetics of glass surfaces. This product is designed to mimic the appearance of frosted or etched glass without the need for expensive replacements or time-consuming renovations.
Frosted glass film allows most of the natural light to filter through while maintaining complete day and nighttime privacy. It softens the harsh glare of direct sunlight, creating a pleasant and diffused illumination. It also rejects 99% of the harmful UV radiation and helps hold shattered glass in place in case of accidental breakage.
CSI keeps all standard sizes in stock of white frosted window film in all available sizes. This means, for our local customers, we can usually have your glass treated within days. The installation itself is a quick, clean and affordable solution compared to chemically etched glass. Additionally, it’s easier to clean and maintain. Other colors are available through our distribution partners too so call us today to discuss your project or if you have any questions.
Conference rooms are the most common commercial application we see. Glass-walled meeting rooms look sharp until someone realizes every person walking by can see exactly who’s in the room and what’s on the screen. Frosted film on the lower portion of the glass or full coverage with a clear band at the top solves it without closing the space off completely. It’s a one day job that changes how the room functions.
On the residential side, front doors with sidelights are probably our most frequent call. Sidelights let in great natural light but they also put your entryway on display to anyone walking up to the door. Frosted film keeps the light and removes the fishbowl effect.
Bathroom windows facing a neighbor are a close second. Replacing that glass with obscure or etched glass means a full window replacement. Film goes on in under an hour and the result is identical to the eye.
Staircase windows are where we see the fewest options from other providers and the most creative solutions from us. Arched tops, circular windows, odd geometry, these are the windows that get ignored because most privacy solutions require standard shapes. Film cuts to any shape. We’ve done half-rounds, full circles, and custom angles on custom homes where there was simply no other practical option that preserved the light while creating the privacy the homeowner needed.
White frost film transmits a good amount of natural light, that’s the point. You’re not darkening the space, you’re obscuring the view through the glass while keeping the room bright. For most interior applications that’s exactly the right trade-off.
One of the advantages of frost film is that it works the same way around the clock. Because it diffuses light instead of reflecting it, the privacy effect doesn’t flip at night the way reflective films do. Lights on, lights off, daytime, nighttime… if someone can’t see through it at noon, they can’t see through it at 10 p.m. either. That’s why it’s such a common choice for bathroom windows, staircase windows facing a neighbor, front door sidelights, and conference room glass.
The tradeoff worth knowing is that frost gives up the view in exchange for that privacy. You still get beautiful diffused light coming through, but you’re not looking out at the yard or the street anymore. For situations where you want privacy AND want to keep the view, that’s where we’d talk through other options during the consultation, dual-reflective film being the most common alternative. Frost is the right answer for most privacy applications, but if keeping the view matters to you, we want to make sure you see the full menu before committing.
Most frosted film jobs are single day installs. We arrive with the film, offer shoe booties before we step inside (standard on every residential job, available on commercial if you’d prefer), and double check the scope of work and sizes against the actual windows. From there, we lay down drop cloths and towels to protect floors and furniture, cut the film to size on-site, clean the glass thoroughly with a soapy water solution, apply the film wet with that same solution, and squeegee it down with specialty hard-card tools to work out the water and air.
The film needs a few days to fully cure. During that window you might see some moisture haze or small water pockets in the film, which is completely normal and clears on its own as the adhesive sets. Once it’s cured, the glass looks and behaves exactly like chemically etched glass would, with one meaningful advantage: our standard white frost films can be cleaned normally, with regular glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Chemically etched glass is porous and traps dirt and soap residue in ways that are almost impossible to fully clean out. Film is easier to live with long-term.
For a typical residential job, a bathroom window or front door sidelights take under an hour. A full conference room wall usually runs half a day to a full day depending on the number of panels and whether we’re doing full coverage or a banded design. We work around your schedule, which for commercial jobs usually means after hours or weekends so we’re not in the way of your team.
Before we cut a single piece of film, we do an in-person consultation. We look at the actual windows, talk about what you’re trying to accomplish, and if frost isn’t the right answer for your situation, we’ll tell you. Sometimes that means steering someone toward custom designs for a branded look, sometimes it means dual-reflective film if keeping the view matters more than we initially understood. Getting the product right is more important to us than getting the sale.
White frost is the right call when privacy is the goal and you want a clean, consistent look across the glass. Custom designs fit projects where branding, logos, or specific artwork matters, common on conference rooms, storefronts, and front doors. Manufactured designs work when you want a decorative pattern (gradients, geometric, linen, reeded looks) without the cost of custom artwork. Most residential jobs land on frost. Most commercial jobs with branding needs land on custom. If you’re not sure, we’ll walk you through examples during the consultation.
We install throughout the South Bay from our Redondo Beach location. If you’re in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, or anywhere in the surrounding area, we’re local, licensed, and typically available within days for residential and commercial projects.
Yes. Frosted film diffuses light instead of reflecting it, so the privacy effect stays the same whether interior lights are on or off. That’s different from solar films, which lose their privacy effect after dark. It’s the standard choice for bathroom windows, front door sidelights, staircase windows, and conference rooms where privacy matters around the clock.
No, not in either direction. Frosted film blocks the view both ways, day and night. You’ll see softened light coming through and shadows of movement (more defined the closer someone is to the glass), but not what’s on the other side. That’s what makes it effective for bathrooms, front door sidelights, conference rooms, and any window where full visual privacy matters.
The typical manufacturer warranty on frosted window film is 5 years, but real-world lifespan often runs double to triple that depending on sun exposure. Windows with heavy direct sun wear faster than shaded or north-facing glass.
Use a mild soapy water solution or a non-ammonia cleaner made specifically for window film. Avoid ammonia-based products like standard blue glass cleaners, they can break down the scratch-resistant coating on the surface of the film and shorten its life. A soft microfiber cloth works best. This cleaning guidance applies to all professional window film products, not just frost.
Yes, by a significant margin. Etching the glass directly or replacing a panel with pre-etched glass means either specialty glass orders or full window replacement, both expensive and time-consuming. Frosted film costs a fraction of that and the finished look is nearly identical.
Yes. Frosted film is a surface application that can be professionally removed without damaging the underlying glass. Most customers install it as a long-term solution and many get well over a decade of use out of it, but the option to remove it if priorities change is always there. That makes it a strong fit for both permanent installs and situations like rentals where flexibility matters.
