Residential Window Film · manhattan Beach, CA
Manhattan Beach sits at the top of the South Bay, and it shows. Downtown is a mix of boutique shops, local restaurants, and just enough familiar names to keep things convenient. The Tuesday Farmers Market brings the community out every week. The Strand connects it all to Hermosa and Redondo. It’s a great place to live, and the foot traffic proves it.
That foot traffic is part of the reason we get calls from Manhattan Beach homeowners. Ground-floor windows along the Strand. Living rooms that face the sidewalk. Bathrooms with clear glass that made sense on paper but not in practice. Privacy is a real issue when your home sits on a walking path used by thousands of people a week.
We’re based in Redondo Beach and have been working in Manhattan Beach since Aug of 2001. We know the neighborhoods, the housing stock, and the specific challenges that come with living this close to the coast.
Manhattan Beach has some of the nicest homes in the South Bay. The Hill, the Tree Section, the Sand Section. A lot of homeowners here have invested in quality finishes, and those finishes take a beating from sun exposure. Hardwood floors fade. Furniture upholstery loses color. Artwork gets washed out.
Solar control film blocks a significant percentage of UV rays before they enter the room. The fading slows down. Your floors, furniture, and art last longer. For homes with large west-facing windows, the difference is measurable within the first summer.
Manhattan Beach is right on the water, which means salt air is a constant. Salt corrodes certain types of window film, specifically metallized films that use aluminum or other metals for reflectivity.
We’ve seen it happen, and it’s more prominent near the North End. Film that looks fine for two years starts to corrode in a year or less. The culprit is almost always the metal layer breaking down from salt exposure. That’s why we steer coastal customers toward ceramic film. Ceramic doesn’t corrode. It handles salt air without degrading, and it performs as well or better than metallized alternatives for heat rejection.
If your home faces the Strand, you already know the privacy situation. Joggers, cyclists, dog walkers, families with strollers. It’s a parade from sunrise to sunset. Great for community. Less great when your living room feels like a fishbowl.
Frosted films give you full privacy around the clock. Daytime privacy films block the view from outside while still letting you see out during daylight hours. For homeowners who want the flexibility to switch between clear and private, we install Switchable Smart Film. One tap and the glass goes from transparent to frosted.
A lot of Manhattan Beach homes face west, which means direct afternoon sun. The Hill gets it. The Sand Section gets it. Any home with ocean views gets it. That sun creates heat buildup and screen glare that makes certain rooms unusable in the afternoon.
Solar control film rejects a significant portion of that heat before it enters the room. You’ll notice it immediately. Cooler rooms, less AC, and no more squinting at your laptop screen. For homes where preserving the view matters, we use low-reflectivity films that cut heat without turning your windows into mirrors.
Most Manhattan Beach homes built or remodeled in the last 20 years have dual pane windows. Dual pane is great for insulation and noise reduction, but it adds complexity when it comes to window film.
Not every film works on every type of dual pane glass. The combination of glass type, Low-E coating, and coating position determines compatibility. Put the wrong film on the wrong glass and you can crack the seal, fog the airspace between the panes, or stress the glass itself.
We check the glass construction with our instruments before recommending anything. If a film isn’t approved for your window configuration, we tell you before installation, not after
Downtown Manhattan Beach has over 150 shops and 50 restaurants. The Tuesday Farmers Market draws crowds every week. All that foot traffic is great for business, but it also attracts a few bad actors. Petty vandalism and graffiti happen, even here.
Graffiti film is a clear sacrificial layer that sits on top of your glass. When someone tags your window, you replace the film instead of replacing the glass. It’s faster, cheaper, and less disruptive than grinding out etched graffiti or installing new panes.
Security film is a thicker option designed to hold glass together on impact. If someone tries to smash through a storefront window or a sliding glass door, the film keeps the glass intact and buys time. For both homes and businesses, it’s peace of mind that pays for itself the first time it’s needed.
Not every company you find online is what it appears to be. Some websites are lead generation platforms that collect your information and sell it to whoever’s available that day. You don’t know who’s actually showing up until they arrive.
Here’s what to look for in a legitimate window film installer:
California Contractor’s License. Any company installing window film in California needs a valid contractor’s license. Ours is #774678. If they can’t provide one, ask why.
Local address. We’re at 811 N Catalina Ave in Redondo Beach. We’ve been here since 2001. If a company can’t tell you where they’re located, they may be a referral service, not an installer.
Direct communication. When you call us, you talk to our team. Not a call center. Not a lead qualifier. If you can’t get a straight answer about who will actually be doing the work, that’s worth knowing.
Product knowledge. Ask about glass compatibility, Low-E coatings, or manufacturer warranties. A real installer will know the details. A lead generator won’t.
We’re not the cheapest option, and we’re not the flashiest website. But we’re the company that shows up, does the work, and stands behind it.
We’re based on Catalina Ave in Redondo Beach, just a few miles south of downtown Manhattan Beach. We also serve Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes, and the rest of the South Bay.
If you’re a Manhattan Beach homeowner or business owner dealing with heat, glare, privacy, fading, or security concerns, we’re local and we’re familiar with the conditions that affect film performance on the coast. We’ve been doing this in this market since 2001.
We’d rather give you accurate information upfront than install something that doesn’t fit your situation. Sometimes that means telling a customer a certain film won’t perform the way they’re expecting, or that film isn’t the right solution for a particular window. We don’t push products. We explain options and let you decide.
If you’d like to talk through your specific situation, we offer free in-home consultations. You can reach us at 310.372.5357, use the contact form on this page, or schedule a time directly through our online calendar.
